A couple novels and their shot at "predicting superintelligence":
1. The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect: The AI becomes godlike and enforces a literal interpretation of Asimov’s Three Laws, making it impossible for humans to die or be harmed. The AI can grant all of people's material wishes. People get bored with unlimited dopamine, lack of risks and ability do die. The story goes on about that conflict.
2. Blood Music: The AI is a swarm of nano machines. (spoilers ahead🛑) It "infects" all humans, merging them into a collective, networked consciousness. As the thing evolves, people end up physically dissolving into a liquid (kind of like in Neon Genesis Evangelion). Eventually the entire planet is converted into intelligent goo and then it all disappears like it "transcended the physical realm" somehow.
