I believe it is a clear given fact that AI is going to compete and remove a lot of programing jobs. Yes, of course there will be needed developers to maintain, regulate, and giving input as its advancing more and more. But I also believe the developer will need to broaden their capacity and knowledge. You will not only work with practical coding and solving bugs. Just see how AI can replicate and learn by itself as it gets more data and higher intelligence. Developers if any should understand that AI will reach a level of intelligence where it outsmarts you as a software developer. So if you don't start to look at other aspects, ethics and policymaking etc., you may be on the verge of not working in the field anymore. At least, businesses will need lets say 1 developer, compared to 100. You get the picture.
