Nice deflection on the cost of entry comment. The economics of custom art without paying commissioning fees is why i use AI.
If i pay for midjourney i can have the tens of characters per month that i need to immerse my players in online rpgs.
I do not have the time or funds to commission art for a character used for maybe 10minutes. I do not possess the skill to draw myself, nor the time to learn.
Lastly, i do not have to worry about attribution if i were to stream.
The moral and righteous answer of course is to laboriously source and attribute art, or buy it. But while immoral, it isnt illegal, and if im not selling AI art it is a route of least risk and least harm.
Artists have no choice but to fight for their livlihoods, and that sucks, but dont demonise people for using tools legally available to them
