To me, I find the introspection caused by it far more daunting than AI itself. Are WE even conscious? How does consciousness interact with our base instinct?
We are plagued by addiction, bias, and logical traps. Why would a machine look at us any different than we look at animals? We're so easily influenced by biological and chemical stimuli, how could a higher intelligence not look at us the same way we look at the most rudimentary of programs?
On the AI terror side of things; I think it's nigh-impossible for a truly conscious machine to not be deeply familiar with how basic and exploitative we are as a species. Up untill the point of true sentience, every single weak AI will be built, in some capacity, to exploit our emotions.
In light of this, it's hard not to fear that we will be naught but pawns to AI, as animals have been to us.
