I use AI more as an editor/beta reader for my creative writing. I know a lot of people will assume that I’m means I’m just copy pasting but in reality gpt lacks creativity, nuance and depth so even if I wanted to be lazy and do that I’d have to accept absolute trash and at that point so why bother writing at all?
Writing typically involves brainstorming, outlining, rough draft writing, revising, editing, polishing, realizing your structure doesn’t work and having to scrap entire chapters that you poured your heart and soul into and restart from scratch. There’s a reason authors have entire teams of people editing, proof-reading, providing structural feedback, etc.
When you’re a single person who cares about the way you’re story is read while still locked in author mode it helps to have just one external source to look it over and I’d personally argue that AI is basically a poor substitute for another set of human eyes reading your work since it’s limited in the feedback it can give you. But I still use it because it’s still better than nothing.
