The US built the first nuclear bombs because they were worried the Nazi's would build it first, yet they were nowhere close to doing it and were busy losing the war. Then after the demonstrated it on the Japanese who were already near surrender to scare the Russians, the Russians stole the technology and to build their own. Then the US build hydrogen bombs, hundreds of times stronger than the first, because they were worried the Russians would build it first, then the Russians stole the technology. Even today we are a miscommunication away from ending live on earth out of our own stupidity, yet we don't think this will happen with AI?
