The question is, how reliable are driverless trucks? Can they detect a motorcycle on the freeway? A pedestrian that unexpectedly runs across the street? How much of the public is going to be in danger? While it’s true that human drivers make mistakes and have accidents, what about this technology? What happens if a satellite connection is lost or internet? These driverless trucks may be able to steer themselves to a location, but trucks with drivers that perform a function when they are at the destination won’t be able to be replaced with a computer. Are the driving public going to be Guinea pigs while these trucks are mixed in traffic with us. If they screw up and kill people on the roads will the companies be held accountable? Or will they have a certain price that they believe humans are worth and have another computer cut us a check?
