If you lose your job to ai: The worst part is they're not even paying you. They're making the same profit as they were before so they are still making enough to pay you, there is nothing stopping them from giving you 1hr/day & paying you for 8. If I work 10 hours a day 5 days a week in a textile mill, & all of a sudden I can run a machine that can make textiles 5x as fast as a person, I could get paid exactly the same amount, make exactly the same amount of textile, & work only 2h/day. There is no loss here, only benefit! Heck, even if you make me work 10h/day on the machine until you pay off the cost of it, that's fine! (unfortunately, they will keep you working 10h/day making 5x as much textile paying you the same nothing-wages, & then expect all of your peers to buy the textiles being overproduced & they would get all the money from making more textiles instead of you getting to spend more time with your family since you're able to give the exact same amount of product to the mill in 1/5 the time. It is greed, drive for profit.) "AI will take your job!" First of all I work a trade. "Automation will take your job!" Well I certainly hope so! The world is a beautiful place & if I don't have to work a job, that would be amazing! Don't you want to automate the worst parts of life? All the work that needs to get done, is getting done, now we get to relax & make art & spend time with other people! Imagine this: You live in a cave & you go hunting every 7 days. Day 1 is the hunt, day 2 is cleaning, & then the other 5 days are making music with the people you love. Suddenly, someone invents this thing called copper, it's nicer than the stone you use. Now you go hunting every 7 days. The first day is the hunt, & you only spend half of the second day on cleaning now. You have more time to spend dancing with your tribemates! Once a month though, you do need to fix that copper up, it's good that copper is so malleable compared to stone. Improvements on society should improve society, not fatten the pockets of just a few -persons- billionaires. "Solar energy would give us more energy than we need" good "& purge the need for oil industry jobs" good, they deserve to retire, but actually they won't get to because a lot of their skills are transferable to maintaining solar panels, so there would be just as many jobs, it would just be better for the environment. It's like people don't realize how much love there is in the world, how much better we can make it, it's like ppl don't realize that humans do in fact want to have occupations, a better world is within reach, I don't understand what good profit gives us. Maybe I'm just too full of love for my fellow people. I don't understand the selfishness. Time for a revolution, perhaps?
