The statement of "Originality doesn't exist" stood out to me, cuz its one I totally agree with. But I see it as an argument against AI, not for it. (Its also one of my biggest motivators to stop myself from second guessing my own ideas) Billions of people, countless ideas.... SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE has had the idea you have.... floating up to the cosmic imagisphere.... Maybe they didn't put it to paper, or maybe they did and it never reached its audience, but I DO believe that every idea has at least been thought up already. That the concept of the TRULY original is..... gone. Any creative person can tell you about how they had a really cool idea, only to see it in an anime that came out 10 years ago. or were watching a movie and heard that one line of dialogue that was gonna carry their whole grand speech in a story they started writing. Or worse, to have a person comment and say "Hey, thats just like-" and mention something you didn't even know about. And it suuuucks. Its draining. To think you made something and its being seen as some hack piece. Or for people to assume it came from an inspiration that wasn't even yours....Its frustrating because it makes you question the value of your own work. (Of course AI Artists don't have to deal with this emotion. because that is the very foundation of everything they do. Their ideas will ALWAYS be compared to things they don't know about because thats how their stuff is made.) But that feeling is important. It sucks when it happens because it makes you second guess your own ideas... you hesitate and you redesign things you previously loved because you're struggling for that need to be new and creative. And sometimes it destroys the things you were most passionate about. You change one thing to seek the 'new' and instead you find yourself never drawing it again. But...... there lies the point of it all...... if nothing is truly original..... then the ideas aren't the thing that matters. That stuff you're typing into the prompt?... Completely. Worthless. Its JUST the idea. The unoriginal, dime-a-dozen idea. The only thing that matters. the only thing that is left, is the heart. the soul. the fact that you truly love what you're creating, even if its not original. Its disheartening to think that you can't make something truly new.... but thats for other people to worry about. What exists between you and your own creations is irreplaceable. There is value in ideas.... but they have to be handled with care. They are the beginning. The spark. An ember is indiscernible from any other. A tiny dot floating amidst hundreds, but the flames it creates will move and dance in a flow that has never once been seen by any other. I DO believe I can't create anything "Original".... but that puts so much more weight on what I create. What I allow myself to be inspired by... It gives so much importance to my process, to the tiny little parts that only I can add. I don't second guess my art anymore if I notice a detail that might seem unoriginal BECAUSE of this belief. Because it forces me to be acutely aware of the organic soul in my work. The parts that exist ONLY because of ME.... The fact my creations are MINE. And when you put in that work. When you REALLY care.... MAYBE...... if you're lucky..... You'll be given the chance to watch your flame cast off another tiny, indiscernible ember.... that one idea that was unoriginal and tired to you...... that you loved enough to turn into something of your own.... That ember could be the first light another person sees..... and they may care for that ember and turn it into another dancing flame of their own. You want to create? THAT is what creation is.
