The very purpose of A.I. is to wipe-out the working class. And to surveil us into servile submission. And to consolidate not only wealth but power among fewer and fewer Elites. And eventually to usurp Humanity. It doesn't matter who's in the White House, but who's behind the White House. Mike "adult-in-the-room" Rowe likes to gloat that the "trades" (not technology) are the last bastion for labor skills, but they're ultimately replaceable by robots, as well. Robots are replacing workers for Amazon, FedEx, UPS, DoorDash, et al. (as they are replacing Uber/Lyft drivers with robotic taxis), and are insidiously replacing construction workers, farm laborers, restaurant servers, et al. A.I. is being used for copy-writing and illustrations for articles; website design, content and maintenance; e-commerce platform updating; incidental music and visuals for videos; short and (eventually) feature films (bye-bye, Hollywood). A.I. stands to replace physicians, attorneys, and the likes of you in Congress.
Your heart is in the right place, but what happens to working-class people who can't find jobs because they don't exist? Rent-out their surplus brain capacity for Internet-of-Bodies distributed processing for the Master A.I. that runs everything – or just, like, disappear? You miss your own point: workers whose jobs are done by robots won't have those jobs anymore; they'll be made "redundant" from that increased output. A robot tax to compensate useless workers? So people can just exist, without any purpose of labor nor any aspiration beyond subsistence? You accept, if not begrudgingly welcome, the influx of A.I. & robots into the workforce as an inevitability, rather than objecting to it, as the inconsistencies in your logic betray a coping acquiescence to tyranny by the evil people behind it.
This discussion is years too late. People in-the-know had been warning against the oncoming flood, but somehow it had eluded public consciousness until we're all now standing in it up to our ankles. Most people wouldn't believe what technologies have been developed in the past 10-20 years, but it's no use in telling them about it. Even when you provide the "links" to the patents and articles, they poo-poo it in denial and call you a nut or try to shoot the messenger. By the time they learn about it, they'll be, oh, signing-up to rent-out their extra brain-space for A.I. processing just to earn their rent and collect EBT credits. (Speaking hypothetically, of course.)
