So i work at a company that builds switch gear for the utility companies in the USA. In the last 5 years or so we started building smaller switch gear that is powering data centers. I was thinking that these data centers was for data storage. After watching this .... Those data centers could be housing AI. I wire the switch gear. My job won't be replaced by AI just yet. But the engineers and the drafters....Maybe sooner than me. I hope to retire there. Anyway...when I train people I teach them how important it is to pay attention to detail. One loose connection and power is lost to a hospital at a critical moment. Someone could die...A utility worker goes in to fix something...He could get killed... But what if the data center my gear is powering leads to a terminator like event. So much to ponder....And in a way...I am part of the cog of this industry.
I come from a family of electricians and plumbers, and car wash business. btw. My son is a plumber.
