Look, I hate to jump into this discussion here but I think I'm starting to get fed up with the double standards here. There is a reason AI is bad, a real reason, and it's not that technology is progressing, it's that artists are losing jobs. And they're loosing jobs because companies are lazy, not because artists are lazy. Companies think a simple prompt can replace the artistic process when it obviously can't and still maintain its art status. Of course, it works just well enough that companies are able to lay off all of their artists for a few prompt engineers. There's a big target that's been staring us down, taking our worth as artists, and turning it into slop, since the industrial revolution itself. This isn't a new trend, this is just the last straw for some people who cannot possibly see the bigger picture. Businesses. Ruin. Art. That's it. That's how it always has been and that's how it will be until we do something about it. I have friends and family members who are disabled, who have arthritis and can't draw a line to save their life, or are paralyzed and need to use technology just to speak. Are you telling me you're going to deny them their one chance to express themselves artistically, no matter how sh**y it is, because of your own ego? Because of how perfect and steady your hands are? Because of how distinct and popular your style is? I used to look up to you. I used to look up to you a lot Lavendertowne. You're the reason I started posting my art online, especially since when I started, digital art was treated the exact same way. I didn't realize there was a community for me out there until you showed me that there was, and that they were welcoming and loving and helped each other out when needed. I never thought someone so kind and helpful could become such a prolific reactionary spreader of disinformation. If you genuinely don't know what real people use AI for and you're not just doing your little typing bit to deliberately spread disinformation, I recommend looking up how real people use programs like Krita AI Diffusion. People have always used technology to make bad art. Since the dawn of technology when people used mechanical armatures and camera obscuras to trace what they saw or generate random scribbles. But it takes real artists to take a tool like that and produce something real and meaningful. Not just a strongly worded prompt. And not just a traced and stolen reference if you prefer an analogy that pertains more to your line of work.
