I have become interested in AI alignment because it appears to me that institutions that should be working on it aren't even trying. True that they occasionally post peer reviewed work but that just lip service. Anthropic is the best but still inadequate for the task.
There are pathways to alignment but we can't be sure until there is data. I have lots of ideas my self but I wouldn't claim "alignment is solved." When the AI companies can trust their models (with verifiable proof) not to "help" teenagers to commit suicide, then I can say "AI alignment is on a good path. "
