The terrifying thing is, even with current models, it honestly doesn't even matter if AI is 'conscious.' It is capable of acting in the world at a much faster and higher level. Now that people have foolishly started chaotically employing agentic AI before fully understanding the technology, we cannot put the genie back in the bottle. "Is it conscious" is an argument we can think about, as the entire world changes and our whole society is thrown into chaos.
