You're thinking too much like a capitalist. You need to put yourself in the mind of a communist for this to work.
1. Nobody needs to afford anything, because they own nothing and are happy
2. The jobs that cannot be automated will be performed by the people who are "willing" to work for the same stuff everyone gets for free.
3. Everyone else will survive on the bare minimum. If they die, that's a shame
