ChatGPT and similar services cannot be trusted to be totally accurate, only convincing.
They take what is most likely the correct answer to a question and display it to you, but since no actual "thought" is involved - there's no critical process involved to correct errors.
Using ChatGPT as a result is like using Wikipedia to do research ~20 years ago (Arguably it is a better source now, but still you should use caution).
It might be accurate 99% of the time, but you can't afford to be 99% accurate if you're a lawyer or scientist or anyone who is doing anything involving any actual stakes.
