My take on this is simple. Dont make robots smart enough to be conscious. Make them smart enough to do the task assign to them and thats it. I worked on AI during college and I always argued that AI should be made to serve our needs and that it is dangerous for AI to control our lives. I'm 100% opposed to companies like Google or Facebook who are doing things that will harm us later down the line.
