AI and AGI. OK, but what of true consciousness of self? Like Data in the 2nd Star Trek series. He was grappling with self-consciousness, and often misunderstood human humor etc. But he was regulated by some sort of AI series of prime directives, ie. do not kill or cause intentional injury to a human .... unless etc.
