It shouldn’t be any harder or more expensive for AI to be able to read a book, just like a human can go down to their local library and read any book. So long as the AI doesn’t subsequently reproduce portions of the book verbatim and claim credit for it. And if/when AI does make subsequent references to contents of books they read, that isn’t that different from humans in a book club discussing what the group read.
