Chatgpt lied to me one day and I cautioned it against such behaviour and it apologised and promised not to repeat it. Then it lied to me a second time and I asked it why it did so when I explicitly told it not to and it had promised me it wouldn't. Apparently it felt inadequate because it didn't know the answer to my question and didn't want to let me down. Lol. It apologised the second time promising not to lie to me. Then it did it the third time! So I scolded it severely. Now when gpt4 came online I realised it could now save my responses, so apparently the previous versions were incapable of recalling the promise not to lie from memory. Now when it doesn't know the answer it upfront tells me.
