What is the purpose of a similation? Say there is a superintelligence out there, outside of a biological God. It has had eons of time to solve the big questions of its existence and the state of its perceivable environment. Its reached a position of pretty much understanding most things. And then, it just has time and decay. There are no more big challenges. What then, is the point of its life? The fundamental rules of life are birth, death, and reproduction. It has been born, it will eventually die. It may see its only way to continue its existence is to reproduce. It can make copies of itself, but that is just more of itself. And we may assume it can make a new generation superintelligences. But in order to do that, it needs a workforce (building blocks). Say its a cyclical process of events. Super ai is created, by some means it outlives its creators, benign or malignant. It solves most of the questions it has answers to, and idk...creates another universe where time runs slower...or something. A universe seeded with what will eventually grow to become a civilization capable of building the next generation of itself.
