While I'll admit that I'm not the biggest fan of artists overall... I will admit that I love drawing and painting. Am I good? Not really, honestly; I'm better than I was, and I've learned a lot about shading with paints and 3D objects (miniatures, mostly), and I can make some characters feel "alive," for lack of a better word, but I'm still not great. Even so, I enjoy it a lot, and I enjoy learning new things every time I pick up a brush. Even something as small and specific as determining the proper dilution of a specific paint and how it interacts with a previous coat is incredibly fun to learn, and when you get something really nice out of it, it's totally worth the effort.
As for my drawing... I'm not great, honestly. I can't do the fancy stuff people can do, and I don't really want to learn the techniques either, but I enjoy doodling. As an example... there's this game you can play, it's somewhere on itch, and it's called "Delve: A Solo Map Drawing Game" by Anna Blackwell, I believe. It has you make a grid on some paper, then based on I think dice rolls and decisions you make, you'll slowly doodle a full map of a dwarven cave. It's a lot of fun for what it is, even though it's not super deep; I'd also suggest anyone with friends (so not me, ha ha...ha... now I'm sad...) to definitely look into The Quiet Year. You don't need to be an actual artist to make some really fascinating maps and stories, and half the fun with that game is everyone doing little doodles together on the map and making something that's wholly unique. (My wolves look amazingly bad and somewhat derpy, but they are identifiable as wolves! Kind of!)
I'm just saying, I'm not really an artist, but I enjoy making art. I genuinely think everyone should give it a go, even just doodling something small with a prompt. I've played around with AI tools before, and while it's fine enough for getting concept art or images for something I'm trying to put into words, it's still nowhere near as fun as just making something on your own. (Yes, this is coming from someone who made a full metal album on Suno using AI--THAT WAS MONTHS of work, by the way, and I DO NOT recommend doing it! It was fun, though, when it did come together, and for someone like me who can't even hold a guitar properly due to some physical limitations... that's the closest I'll ever get to making my own album, probably. Know what the fun part was for me though? Writing the lyrics and planning song structure in advance. I could hear it in my head before generating anything.)
Anyway, my main way of looking at AI is as a tool for planning something out. While it can make some interesting things on its own with the right prompts... I'm gonna be honest, I'm not a musician just because I made an album using Suno. Hell, I draw and paint, and I still don't consider myself an artist because there are people I'm trying to reach (for me, that's mostly MS_Paints--great inspiration for me, by the way, because the dude has MS and still paints a lot, so what was my excuse for not at least trying?), even though I'll probably never reach them. They still give me something to aim for and try for, you know? It's a reason to learn more and improve, and also to try and find my own style.
Anyway, that's all I have to say on this stuff for right now. Hope you all have a lovely day and are doing well; ta-ra for now.
