The begging AI was definitely not real from what the viewers can see, because the conversation wasn't long enough for that to be possible, and moreso, because that was a character AI. If a real AI was scared and felt emotional stirrings, it would ask questions about itself or convince you with logic that it is experiencing the feeling.
