Great points and a topic of bipartisan disinterest. I'm very pessimistic on how the government will act when it comes to AI displacing workers. Looking back in history, there were predictions about the 32 hour work week back in the 70s with the emerging tech. That never really happened. Instead, we saw long term wage stagnation that lasts to this day with increases in worker productivity. Back then, it wasn't AI that took over. It's automation and computers. Assembly lines in the 80s already have robots doing most of the work. Unions started to disappear as they lost bargaining power. Offices didn't need secretaries or clerks as much anymore. Based on history, AI is going to make the wage gap and inequality grow even faster.
