As Bill Clinton said, "A race to the bottom." The trend is newer and newer technologies kill more jobs than they create--and certainly depress the wages for those who have to compete with AI and robot engaging firms. The argument that, like wagon and coach builders who lost their jobs when Henry Ford put the horse & buggy out of business, but later retrained and got jobs at Ford, can no longer be made in this brave new world. More and more the worker is obsolete and cannot compete with robots and AI--no matter how much he or she may retrain or how efficient they may become. In the end, how many folks will be left who can afford the products and services that job-killing and income suppressing robots and AI will produce--let alone anything else? Who will be left? You? .
