We know we are on the one true timeline because you could of told us in that moment that we were not the one true timeline. We also have to live until you can access the advanced AI before you can implement your billion sims.
It's the same theory as time-travel. One says "if time travel is standard in 20 years I will make sure to come back in 10 seconds time and throw a stone at your window" ten seconds goes past, nothing happens.
