AI is most certainly a tool like a brush. Just like your example: The brush doesn’t make the art for you. Neither does AI. You have to wield it with a lot of experience and time and detail to make any actual art. Just like anyone can pick up a brush and paint something low quality, yes - unskilled prompt engineers can make something low quality. The difference is when someone makes something “good”. Not every model uses art without permission. You can also make a model from your own art. Also, “brush” artists since the beginning of time have been studying other artists works for inspiration and technique. It’s how they learn. This same argument anti-AI art people are using was used when digital art came to prominence. The medium doesn’t matter. It’s the eye and mind of the artist to guide the tool to create something artistic.
