Not advocating one way or another here. But just correcting a point in error. AI art generators don't go and amalgamate or store any images from the examples. All it does is weight the network. There are no images stored in the AI.
Now I'm not saying that scrapping the internet for training data is right, especially if the artist hasn't given permission for them to use their art in that way. But the programs learn the art style in a similar way to humans learning. Both modify nural nets through practice and feedback. The AI just does it way faster.
Personally, I think the AI programmers should restrict what they give their models to those that have given permission to use their art.
