A few weeks ago when I tried Codex 5.1, it did something shady, it started looking for files in system root sir instead of the project. It decided to download its own tools instead of cat, grep etc.
This is when I only gave it read-only permission in the project.
From my experience sonnet 4.5 is much better, and understand where the project is i.e. Linux or windows. But if you want to have a better experience with AI then I would recommend KiloCode and OpenCode, both outperform these closed source tools.
