Calculators and tractors are more of a tool and humans utilize that tool. For programmers, the tool is the development software, and they use that tool to create products, what is being replaced is not the development software, but the thing using the development software, the person. Rather than a person using the tool to make a product or a service, the AI will create the product or the service. The AI couldn't do everything, but a service that required a team of 100 will be reduced to 10 with AI, then eventually to a team of 1 with many AI, some of that 100 might go into the industry of making AI, but then what if AI develops itself?v Even if it didn't a large portion of that initial 100 will be left with no work. So let's say they try to change industries, what if AI is disrupting many industries simultaneously? This is the end of human labor, especially when robotics advance too, and we should embrace it.
