I did ... hell, a hundred or so "flip art" illustrations for a friend's book on the promise of a good commission. So much for trust. Not a dime but, I swear by all I hold holy, a box of a dozen thrift store shoes as if it was some grand prize. A Yellowstone book so was offered to go to the park to help sell it but I'd have to pay my way and would not get a commission. Just STUNNING that could come out of a person's mouth with a straight face. This "friend" only did trivia (in this world, yeah) so NONE of it was actual writing but just compiling and changing a word or two. Happily I had better luck with a few books of my own, that I, go figure, actually wrote. The husband always wanted to get on the bandwagon so he crowed about "publishing" his new book (Kindle), asking friends to pay $14.95 AND a flat-out request to put up some 5-star reviews. The samples were garbage ... ALL AI images, clearly expressed but 100% cheat vibe. Based on a historical event and even using a random AI image for a main person ... THAT IS NOT HIM! I lost it (for many other reasons about this person over the years) and gave him "what for" about his cheating, plagerizing and to me, the utter blasphemy of friends doing fake reviews. No wonder few believe them anymore. Further, I bet a LOT he didn't write any of it, either, past changing a few lines. I have no longer any tolerance for frauds or cheating, lazy wannabes. DO THE WORK or you are an INFECTION that needs to be exised.
