I'm someone who the "it helps disabled people" AI simps would probably point to. At the same time as I was starting to learn to draw I developed rheumatoid arthritis, which pretty much ended that plan. I wanted to illustrate my own graphic novels. I'm sure I could try and use AI to create something close to what I envision when I write comic scripts, but I genuinely can't think of anything worse. Because the process itself is valuable. When I write, I am able to come up with new or more interesting things than just when I was thinking about the story. And artists I've collaborated with bring the same kind of thing when they illustrate my scripts. Yes, my physical inability to draw means I have a lot of graphic novels that either stay as ideas or I repackage into short stories, as I cannot afford to pay artists for their work. But the idea that I'm justified in stealing from other artists because I'm disabled is insulting.
