The fact of the matter is that the first point about A.I. "stealing" is contradicted by the other point about the supposed subjectivity of art. If you are a talentless layman rationalizing your poor taste or a talentless and pretentious artist, then yes, art is subjective. Ironically, that same subjectivity is why the layman sees no issue with A.I. art and why the artistes are so offended. No one wants to acknowledge that art and beauty are objective and have standards. This is why I don't feel threatened by A.I. as an artist myself any greater than I feel threatened by the competition of human hacks. If artists attempt to skillfully craft something that measures up and stands out, that's all that actually matters. Most people and robots are not up to that task, but hypothetically the rare, exceptional robots shouldn't be excluded and ostracized. Artwork should speak for itself, not be preferentially intrpreted to have significance. I'd argue that there's no difference between what A.I. does and what rappers do when "sampling" tracks, but I'd also say there's a good reason why I can't think of a single rapper off the top of my head yet the Beatles endure 6 decades later.
