Always armageddon “right around the corner” and it never ever happens. Life is amazing right now and getting better all the time. Fire. The wheel. Guns. Cars. Computers. Now AI. All were going to cause mass unemployment and the end of civilization as we know it. And yet, life goes on, advances keep making life easier, and the world keeps getting better. If AI causes 99% unemployment, it will decrease labor costs to nothing, boost profitability and productivity to the moon, and the companies will need to pay all of us a living wage through taxation so that we keep buying all the amazing products and services that they want to sell. We’ll then be free to do other more interesting things. That’s the future. Not extinction. Extinction would not be profitable. Embrace productivity. Embrace AI. Embrace capitalism.
