Let's get something straight, because we seem to have forgotten what "AI" is.
Most people, when referring to AI, refer to generative AI and LLMs. An LLM's purpose is to mathematically select the next most likely word in a sentence given a prompt, in order to sound human. It does not think, it does not feel, it does not contain knowledge or have the capacity for reason. It is a tool that uses statistics to make sentences. Gen AI works much the same way, but with images instead of words.
We are NOT approaching a singularity, we are not approaching "conscious AI." AI is a tool, and it is a tool that is and will be used by companies to make profit and to perpetuate the systems we live under. Remember this always.
