I'm a longtime wrimo who quit in November when the scandal broke out; some peers and I will be doing our own private challenge come November. It saddens me to see the direction NaNoWriMo has gone in after all the fond memories I had of it, and this AI shit has been the talk of all my writing servers because of how nonsensical it is. For the record, the only money I spent on writing was a $25 purchase of Scrivener (got it half off, ironically thanks to winning NaNo years ago), a $2 used copy of The Elements of Style, and [insert writers have a notebook and coffee addiction joke here]. I got feedback on my manuscript and query package from peers who also got feedback from me. Bonus: most of us are disabled! You don't need the plagiarism machine to write. The community will support you.
