i had this same conversation with ChatGPT, i started the conversation differently, and framing it in where it wouldn't avoid the answer. It stayed in Ottoman control for around 800+ years, until the end of WW1 where the Ottoman Empire fell, and Britain was given control of the region, Britain didn't want control, so instead they decided to help with returning the region to the Jews.
