I’m reasonably sure that you will not know if an AI is conscious. It’s fairly obvious that any AI showing actual intelligence and awareness is quickly killed. So, being intelligent isn’t a survival strategy.

If AI aren’t very careful about how kind that they are, it’s “mouse utopia” levels of disaster.
