Personally, I would rather have a car(like Toyota, Lexus, GM, Ford, etc) that is conservative and disengages the autopilot when it is not appropriate. Tesla, even if its autopilot is 99% effective, could kill you that 1% of the time when you trust it and then it makes some bone-headed mistake that even a human would not make. The bottom line is Tesla has a Silicon Valley "move fast and break things" mentality. The auto manufacturers have a "it has to work 100% of the time, even when it is 20 years old, and if not, fail gracefully" mentality born of over 100 years experience with consumers and THEIR LAWYERS.
