As someone who has produced art but would not call themselves an "artist" I think for the vast majority of the population who are not artists the works of generative AI art they are able to make is good enough for their needs.
For instance I run a lot of online tabletop RPGs and I used to rip whatever I found straight from Google Images for character art, backgrounds, etc. Now I can use generative AI to make art that is "good enough" for characters, backgrounds, etc without having to worry about having "stole" someone's art from Google Images.
