True and wise words!
Some of my colleagues at the university currently appear to believe that all our scientific and engineering problems can be solved by AI, this is fueled by many funding agencies currently spending a lot of resources on AI projects. At the same time, the same colleagues want to prohibit or at least control the use of platforms like ChatGPT by our students.
I see ChatGPT as a tool which we need to embrace (it will not disappear, just become better) and teach our students how to use these new tools efficiently. The time of homework essays is - and should be - finally over. But here ChatGPT is just an easier way than previously asking for help with your homework in internet forums or among your friends, relatives etc. I have been offered money on Discord to solve someone else's homework - and while I of course did not accept this offer, there was most probably be someone who did.
