While I agree that this guy is no artist, I do think that he should be able to legally protect the images he's had generated. The images are a representation of his ideas, or in other words his intellectual property. He should get the same or similar protections as anyone else trying to protect their IP's. To me this is very similar to the case of Bloodborne. Sony/this guy had an idea for a game/image, and then used Fromsoft/AI create a representation of that idea. Only Sony gets to copywrite their idea as IP, and this guy doesn't.
Edit: He should only be able to copywrite the images generated if the images are unique and don't contain a significant portion of already copywriten material.
