It is the imitation of art. If the AI gains sentience and makes the art from its own emotions and thoughts, then I’d see the argument that it is art. But Art needs to have soul put into it. I think it’d be fine for someone to take an AI image from a prompt and use it as inspiration for something they themselves will draw as that would still be art, but the AI generated image itself is not art.
