as a computer engineer and a writer i think they should've stayed silent, for what i understand the ninowrimo challenge is against yourself, you dont win anything it's a thing you do for motivation. if you dont want to write a book but want to have written one (asked ai to write it for you) then the challenge is beside the point. f they really wanted to take the sponsorship they could've argued the use of ai in many more useful ways. for example i use it for synonims and translations, it's actually really useful for phrasal verbs and saying that differ in different languages. you can do spell checking. you can ask for info about locations, some physics stuff. i enjoy doing research but ai can help with that. i once even asked gpt to write me a second chapter after i send it the first one and what it produced was totally useless bc it wasnt the story i wanted to tell. (i did it for curiosity, you know, compsci engineer). and brainstorming with ai ?? it's terrible it gives you nothing to work with but overused tropes and cliches. in my experience writing with ai not only doesnt make you a writer but will reap the heart and soul from your story and will make it flat.
