As someone with significant physical and learning disabilities, I rely on AI daily to help me communicate clearly and effectively. It has truly transformed my life in a positive way. Tools like AI-powered writing assistants allow me to express my thoughts coherently in ways that would otherwise be extremely difficult.
Beyond communication, I also depend on assistive technologies such as smart home systems and automatic door openers—technologies that, while not purely AI, increasingly integrate AI-driven features like voice recognition through platforms such as Alexa. These innovations, especially when combined with my wheelchair dependence, offer a level of independence and efficiency I wouldn’t otherwise have.
So for me, AI isn’t something to fear—it’s something that empowers. That said, I’m also fully aware of the potential risks. In the wrong hands, AI can be misused in ways that are deeply harmful. But when developed and applied responsibly, it can be life-changing—in the best possible sense.
