The concept of protecting ones right to draw profit is the mistake.
Copyrights exist to protect artists' credit for their work from being stolen. AI doesn't do that unless it infringes on someone else's work. *Nobody* should be profiting from AI and it doesn't need protection because nobody can steal from it.
How screwed will we all be if AI becomes something corporations can take ownership of and draw profit from? It's an evolution of human technology, not just the latest version of Siri. Scifi authors have been predicting this for a *very* long time.
If your art was used to train AI, and it looks like everyone else's art; there's a high likelihood that it will influence that AI. But if your art is highly unique and the only example of such a style, then it's much more likely to be associated with objective aspects of its design, affecting prompts like "shading" or "mood lighting."
Also, don't forget... most artists would be honored to see an art student copying their work. It's how people learn art. So why can't it also be how machines learn art?
