AI promoters are deluded by this technology because they have no idea of the implications of creation. They may believe it's just a matter of picking up inspiration here and there.
We could even put aside the subject of talent and imitation. Ask AI to produce a patchwork. What an AI can choose to put in there, and who cares? It won't have any meaning that could be found in a patchwork produced by a real person.
An AI could produce Star Wars episodes 10-11-12 for you. Just as it could produce a Star Wars movie for you every week.
But how many will you be able to watch? If you did, how much could you remember after a few months? And by that, there would be no criticism to be made about the story, the scenario, the extended universe... Since no one was interested in writing it, no one would have any interest in commenting on it.
I don't know if Nightshade is able of poisoning AI, but for sure, generative AI can only lead to poisoning our imaginations and culture.
