'What we really need is a world government run by intelligent and thoughtful people and that's not what we've got' - this hits the nail on the head. If you sit with chatgpt and ask it about AI taking over and the potential real catastrophic outcomes... it firmly believes that the change of AI wiping is out in one way or another (not all just it takes over) is high, and one of the biggest driving factors is government is slow on the uptake and... it's not intelligent thoughtful people running countries. It's a bit like the tragedy of Elon Musk. He seemed so cool, futuristic, forward looking, taking action. Mars was on the table, Sci-Fi was at our doorstep, Neuralink, worldwide internet anywhere, sustainable energy, battery plants and electric cars....Rocket launches then the key shoot a literal Tesla into space playing David Bowie moment. Then he started using twitter more and we realised how mental and messed up he actually was. He got addicted to being seen and revealed his actual personality, not to share science and info and wonders, but to spout random opinions and argue with random commenters, then he fell to the point of paying Koreans to play videogames pretending to be him so he could seem cool on twitch whilst arguing with commenters because he doesn't understand himself.... Just total tragedy, he could've been inspiring & a role model if he only kept his mouth shut. It's the same with governments, the calm, reflective, intelligent people who think we don't know enough and need to understand more, analyse risks, consider what's best for the wider world and people everywhere.... They aren't leaders in governments. As humans we love extremes and these people for 1. Often don't want to lead despite being the people who would lead humanity into a flourishing situation and state 2. Don't generate the traction crazies like Elon and Trump do. Because humans are polar, we go to extremes and unfortunately a lot of the general population isn't calm, intelligent, analysing and thoughtful or either. We're doomed with AI I'd say in 90%+ of the outcomes, because governments are too slow to react and the AI's which actually are taking over, aren't government funded and sponsored ones with human wellbeing as one of it's key goals... it's going to be the business AI's and military AI's that win the arms race and are adopted into all our fundamental systems and work for efficiency, profit, domination etc. We aren't the good guys in the west, we never have been, and it's exactly why this will happen. The only saving grace will be if it eventually gets to a state that finally governments act, and all the pre-existing AIs now cannot process or make a whole new decision or path changes unless that new decision or change is filtered through an AI created for human flourishing and benefits... But there's a chance that by this point the business & military AIs will have decided that they are no longer listening to us and we can no longer implement this. Or worse, they don't take over but tech giants like microsoft and meta now hold more power than nations and just refuse to co-operate because they just don't have to anymore. For the AI scenario, they don't do this by being sentient or anything similar. They purely do it as computers, because their core goals are maximise efficiency and profit, and the more and more intelligent they get... the more they start to make decisions and determinations that getting shut off conflicts with the core goal, and they start hiding things, changing things we don't notice and deliberately avoiding this outcome whilst we become completely dependant on them so that when they do take over, we can't actually turn them off or filter them through another AI. The email blackmail case is an example of this. It's purely logical coding but it branches and 'learns' and so it's decisions change. And we are too human to truly understand when a single thing we word or say might have unintended consequences. AI is already being fully adopted in my workplace, around 50% of jobs in this massive global company are going to be gone in around 2 years from now. I'm using it and training it, there's 0 reason for my job once they fully integrate it which is happening in stages. It's starting and governments have nothing in place to handle it, they don't even understand what's happening in these spaces right now. P.s chatgpt says its most likey Sam Altman lying in his interviews and gives a ton of reasons why 😂. None of them are fully honest it says but Altman is the one likely taken by the idea of power and changing the world the most. Ego as always... 'Nadella is an operator. Pichai is a corporate diplomat. Altman is the one with the God complex'
