That’s all nice and everything, but this is the beginning of the end for decent paying IT jobs for most people. Just like automation ended most manufacturing jobs. There are still some manufacturing jobs that pay well, maintaining the machines that replaced people. Same thing here. The thing is, in the past when a new technology came along, cars replacing horse and buggy, electricity replacing oil lamps, IT jobs replacing manufacturing jobs, there doesn’t seem to be a place for people to go next. AI and robots will very quickly replace almost all work. No taxi drivers, no truck drivers, no fast food workers, so no managers. Certainly no accountants, no salespeople, no attorneys, no doctors, no surgeons, no nurses… Even the arts, which have never faced this before. Actors, cameramen whatever, nothing for them to do. Oh sure, there will be some “old timey” movies made, but it will not be the majority. Not even YouTubers will be needed. You can just request a video and it will be made. Painters, artists, musicians, AI can do it better and tailor it for the user. So, what’s left? Police, fireman? Nope, robots will be better at it, and safer. Crime. But to what end? Soon, everything purchased will track back to electronic currency and have tracker ids in it. Illegal drugs? Maybe. Well, definitely. People are going to need something to do. Prostitution? Robots. So, when there is nothing left for the masses to do, and as humans if we don’t have something to do, something at least a little meaningful, then what? War, chaos is my guess. Capitalism won’t work anymore. If you earn no money, there is no money to spend, the system implodes. Maybe that’s why half of the politicians in the west seem so hell bent on communism. It’d be about the only thing with a chance to work. What do they know we don’t?
