I think we need to also differentiate between the uses of this tech rather than taking a blanket approach. The worst, in my opinion, are the sextortion scammers. They're using deepfake porn to coerce people into paying money or, worse, do sex acts. They should face the harshest criminal penalties. Then there are the harassers using it as a weapon against people, especially women. That should be a crime as well and should require a public apology and restitution. As far as men and boys using AI to create fap material, I don't think that's stoppable, even with laws. It's already a crime for teens to look at porn and considered CP or CP manufacturing for them to sext each other, and all this has done is ruin kids' lives for dumb reasons. I think those laws are idiotic, unconstitutional, and should be repealed. We're just going to have to learn to be a less puritanical society, teach girls and boys not to be ashamed of sexuality, etc. A big part of that is going to be holding bullies and harassers accountable when they try to use this tech for harassment. Another big part is that employers should be forbidden from looking into the private lives of employees in hiring/firing decisions. I think that even goes to what libs sometimes do where they try to get folks fired, etc. That should largely stop.
